Abstract
This article aims to show the representativity of Cassian’s work in the visigothic and medieval Iberian Peninsula, inventorying textual evidences and Latin and vernacular codices to emphasize the translation’s role in the enlargement of the Cassian’s works (Institutiones and Conlationes) to a secular community. Owing to the singularity of the medieval portuguese translation of Cassian’s Institutiones, it seems crucial to provide a critical edition and collation of his manuscript copies in order to evaluate the process of textual transmission.
