Abstract

In connection with available experimental data on “high-j” configurations in the yrast spectroscopy we discuss the phenomena which are not compatible with axially-symmetric nuclear shape. Observable quantities chosen for discussions are: signature-dependence of B(E2:I→I-1)-values; excitation spectra of unfavoured-signature states in odd-A nuclei; anomalous signature-splitting of Routhians in odd-A as well as odd-odd nuclei; relation between the signature-splitting of energies and the signature-dependence of B(M1)-values in odd-A nuclei.
