Abstract

SUMMARYA prognostic evaluation was performed in 78 epileptic children followed with repeated clinical, electroencephalographic and pneumoencephalographic examinations.Fifty‐five per cent were clinically free of seizures for 2 years or more, and 19% were markedly improved.Normal intellectual ability, normal neurological findings, normal first electroencephalogram and an improvement or normalizing of the sometimes markedly abnormal first EEG record on subsequent follow‐up gave in this material a good prognosis. There was no correlation between the first pneumoencephalographic results and the clinical outcome. The later follow‐up roentgenograms were of some prognostic value as 10 were improved in the clinically free group, against two among the patients who still had seizures.RÉSUMÉUne évaluation du pronostic a étéétablie chez 78 enfants épileptiques par la recherche réitérée de symptômes cliniques, électroencéphalographiques et pneumoencéphalographiques.
