Abstract
As new statistics released in January from Cancer Research UK show, people in the UK are living longer and more are developing cancer. For example, new cases of breast cancer have risen by 12 per cent over the last five years and cases of malignant melanoma have increased by 16 per cent in just one year. Thus, it is a sad fact that we as cancer nurses, are a workforce in increasing demand (page 5), and as such we must learn ever more about the disease and become specialists in cancer nursing. This is where CNP can help – in increasing our breadth, depth and perspective of cancer nursing knowledge.
