A process design approach based on the fusion model

Abstract

This paper develops a method for effective production design to harmonize quality, due date and cost of new/improved products, and presents the result of its application to a painting machine case. The method proposed in this paper is based on a “fusion concept,” “product characteristics deployment,” and “product family tree.” The results allow us to identify the key point of process control for quality assurance program activities in the manufacturing stage, and to prioritize management concerns for total quality control.
