Abstract

Even if the phase of a scattering amplitude may be reconstructed uniquely from a certain set of observable quantities, the problem of its stability with respect to small displacements of the data is still open. We present a detailed discussion of the stability of the phase of the πN scattering amplitudes obtained from differential cross section and polarization measurements, using analyticity at fixed momentum transfer and isospin invariance.
