Abstract

We introduce an interactive parametric procedural method to simulate the visual nature of lightning based on random binary tree results from probability theory. This technique has a rich parameter set and addresses one of the key outstanding points of previous work, namely, the formalization and parameterization of the branching pattern algorithm used to generate the lightning bolt.
