Abstract

AbstractConventional constant amplitude life diagrams (CLDs) model cannot reasonably describe mean stress effect and stochastic uncertainty present in the fatigue failure process of composite materials. To address this problem, taking the spatial mapping relationship between probabilistic S‐N curves and probabilistic CLD model as an entry point, a probabilistic CLD modeling method is proposed under the assumption of linear equations and the assumption of equiprobable quantile point between static strength distributions and fatigue life distributions. The p‐S‐N curve is established using fatigue test data from different load zones divided by different stress ratios.Subsequently, the p‐CLD model is derived through the spatial mapping relationship of the p‐S‐N curve. The method is validated by fatigue test data of glass fiber/polyester resin composites. The results indicate that the proposed method can offer an accurate description of the probabilistic behavior of composite materials.
