Abstract
Fractions probably cause more difficulty than any other subject in the mathematics taught in the elementary schools and the junior and senior high schools. Even the bright pupils in the engineering schools have trouble with fractions. A similarity or uniformity of presentation throughout the grades and high schools may help to steer the students away from the pitfalls which are usually found along the “fraction highway.” It is with this thought in mind that I offer a few suggestion for the presentation of arithmetic and algebraic fractions.
