Abstract

A systemic investigation of the mechanism of the hypotensive action of Huang Chin was performed on rats. The hypotensive action was found to be the result of decreased total peripheral resistance, and this decrease was suggested, with experimental evidence, to be the central action of Huang Chin which inhibits the normal vascular smooth muscle tone by interrupting the descending excitor impulses from the vasomotor center.
