Abstract

Objective To evaluate the liver stiffness of brain death donor and patients after liver transplantation by real-time elastic imaging (RTE), to explore the application value of RTE in evaluating the brain death donor. Methods Twenty-four cases of brain death donor were detected by electron microscope and RTE, after liver transplantation, the liver of receptors were detected at the first day and the seventh day. According to electron microscopy results, 24 cases were divided into 2 groups: the liver fibrosis group (12 cases) and the non fibrosis group (12 cases), and the results were compared and analyzed. Results In the liver of brain death donor and at the first day after liver transplantation, the MEAN value of the fibrosis group was greater than that of the non fibrosis group, and there were significant differences between them (P 0.05). Conclusions Elastic imaging can evaluate the liver stiffness of brain dead donor liver, and can dynamically monitor the changes of liver stiffness after liver transplantation, and it is expected to be a new method for liver evaluation. Key words: Elastic imaging techniques; Liver transplantation; Brain death; Donor
