Abstract

Emerging adults show the highest rates of heavy marijuana use. Marijuana use is associated with memory impairments and altered functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) response, but the neurochemical underpinnings remain unclear. We ascertained both neurochemistry and fMRI response in 17 current heavy marijuana users and 15 controls, ages 18-22 years, and predicted that marijuana users would demonstrate altered relationships between neurochemicals and fMRI response.
