Abstract

This paper presents a new taxonomical classification of the Oedogonium genus and a proposition of division into two sections: I. Monospermatozoideae and II. Dispermatozoideae. These sections based on the number of spermatozoids in the antheridial cell express, however, the whole set of morphological characteristics concerning mainly reproductive cells. In order to achieve a classification based on phylogenetic criteria phenetic- and cladistic taxonomy methods were used. The results of the last method are discussed.
