Abstract

Summary This preliminary report is based on our observations on 100 patients following the administration of a new cholecystographic medium, Telepaque. This same group was also studied with Priodax. The side effects following the ingestion of both media have been tabulated. The superiority of Telepaque was evident in the reduction of the incidence of untoward side reactions and sequelae. The high percentage of symptom-free patients in the Telepaque group was significant. The advantageous features presented by the new medium were (a) high percentage of functioning gall bladders. (2) increased density of the gall bladder shadow. (3) adequate response to the fatty meal, affording a means of studying the evacuation phase. (4) increased incidence of visualization of the duct shadows. No attempt to summarize the diagnostic findings and present our conclusions is made. It is our wish to collect a larger series and to summarize the diagnostic and surgical findings in a group of cases studied with Telepaque. Our present experience, however, provides adequate reason for continuing our studies with this medium.
