Abstract

Background: Most patients with a new brain lesion have a CT chest abdomen and pelvis (CAP) to investigate for a possible primary lesion. In our analysis, 74% of CT-CAPs do not identify a primary lesion and may not be necessary. NICE guidelines in this regard are quite vague. We aim to assess the factors which can identify the possible nature of the lesion on initial assessment, to avoid unnecessary CT-CAP.
