Abstract

The ages between 12-18 years are the time of steady growth and development. Good nutrition is the high priorities during this age group. School days are full of educational challenges that require long attention span and stamina. To face those challenges one should have to be healthy. Good health can be achieve by having healthy and nutritious food. A pre-experimental study to assess the effectiveness of planned instructional module regarding knowledge about health hazards of junk foods among children in selected community area at District Mandi. Evaluative research approach and pre experimental one group pre-test and post-test research design was used for assessing the effectiveness of planned instructional module on health hazards of junk foods among children. The study was conducted at community area of Village Dhangu, Ratti, District Mandi. There were nearly 180 children in the community area. Among them 13-18 age group comprise of nearly 90 children comprises of both girls and boys. Total numbers of children selected were 50. The children were selected for study by simple random technique. The self-structured questionnaires was used to assess the effectiveness of planned teaching on programme on knowledge regarding junk food among children. The data collected was analyzed by Descriptive Statistics and Inferential Statistics. The result of study depicts Before planned instructional module, out of 50 children, 25(50%) had in adequate knowledge, 24(48%) had moderate knowledge and 1(2%) had adequate knowledge. But after the planned instructional module regarding knowledge about health hazards of junk foods, none of them had inadequate knowledge, 8(16%) of children had moderate knowledge and 42(84%) of them had adequate knowledge. The t value when compared to pretest and post test is 35.24, which is highly significant when p<0.05.So, it has been concluded that planned instructional module regarding knowledge about health hazards of junk foods was effective among school children.
