Abstract
Female entrepreneurship is considered an important tool in enabling female empowerment and liberation. This paper looks at the literature around female entrepreneurs, focusing on female entrepreneurship in the developing world. This study is a pragmatic study conducted in and around Salem district from motivating women entrepreneurs involved in income yielding economic activities. This study is substantial evidence that women entrepreneurs in rural area still preferred to take up conventional activities like beauty parlors, Tailoring, pickle making, saree selling, petty trading and homemade cottage works. Generally women focus on the local task and demand due to their limitations regarding business expansion as well as lack of vision and strategic planning. The most common reason for women entrepreneurs to start a business is to fulfill their basic needs and to earn money for the development of their family. This study aims to bring out the challenges and problems faced by the rural women entrepreneurs and the factors which affect their reach.
