Abstract
ABSTRACT Static shunt compensation employing high power thyristor technology is now widely used in industrial and utility systems for power factor correction, voltage stabilization and light flicker reduction This paper describes the development of suitable control circuit for the static reactive power compensator using thyristor controlled reactors, in parallel with fixed capacitor banks. The simulated results have been compared with the results obtained experimentally, oscillograms of the experimental results demonstrating the fast response of the compensator have been included.
