Abstract

Rural governance is the key link and the "last mile" in the framework of social governance system. UNESCO pays full attention to lifelong learning, to which distance education is an important means. Based on the deep exploration of the open university in the field of improving rural governance capacity for years, this paper analyzes the relationship and promotion between the two concepts of "distance education" and "rural governance" from two levels: theoretical guidance and practical exploration. It demonstrates the significance and effectiveness of distance education in serving rural governance by means of conceptual analysis, comparative analysis, and case analysis. the results show that distance education can play an irreplaceable role in improving the efficiency of rural governance thanks to its advantages of advanced information technology, flexible school-running system, and convenient implementation path.
