Abstract

The misuse and correct selection of prepositions can be one of the most challenging parts of learning a new language, especially in a foreign context. In order to homogenize the learners, a typical placement test was distributed among the students. To check the knowledge of Iranian EFL learners based on prepositions, a multiple-choice test was distributed among 100 Iranian EFL students from pre-intermediate to advanced levels in three different educational institutions. The results of study found a steady increase regarding learners` knowledge upon using and slecting the correct preposition level-wise, and the test showed enough awareness of the learners on prepositions. It also proved that the learning and studying English courses were positively effective on their performance.
