Abstract

This paper describes a method for estimating and correcting for errors that are induced by the grid. Since grid-induced errors can be generated at one location and then transported elsewhere, the method is based on the discrete-error-transport equation (DETE), which can track the generation and the evolution of grid-induced errors. This paper also presents two models for estimating where grid-induced errors are generated. One model generates the residual entirely from the CFD solution for which an error estimation and correction are sought. The other model generates the residual from several CFD solutions of the same problem generated on several different grids.
