Abstract

A Possible Evolutionary Model of Apuseni Mountains and of Biharia Nappe System. Our intention is to expose and outline a possible structural model for the Paleozoic evolution of the Apuseni Mountains and for the alpine evolution of some tectonic units belonging to the Biharia Nappe System. During the Paleozoic times, the tectonic units involved in this model migrated from the northern margin of Gondwana toward Laurasia, then collided in Variscan orogeny. The Biharia and Codru Nappe Systems were sheared from the Preapulian craton margins, and the Transylvanides were sheared from the Penninic rift, during the Alpine orogeny.
