Abstract
This paper proposes a sensorless control technique for an Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) based on the measurement of current derivative. The rotor speed and position are estimated based on measurement of current derivatives at one zero voltage space vector and one active voltage space vector during each PWM cycle. The proposed method is different from the fundamental pulse-width excitation, indirect flux detection by on-line reactance measurements and extended modulation methods in the literature. The Model Predictive Direct Torque and Flux Control (MPDTC) algorithm incorporating a duty cycle control is applied to the control system which includes the proposed estimators of position and speed. The full system simulation was implemented to verify the effectiveness the proposed method.
