Abstract

(1) A design for a combined oxygen meter and thermometer is described together with details of construction, calibration and use. (2) Oxygen is measured using a Clark cell in which current flow is proportional to oxygen concentration, and temperature by means of the forward voltage drop across a IN914 diode. (3) The instrument can be assembled at relatively low cost and is capable of a high degree of precision in continuous monitoring of dissolved oxygen concentrations and water temperature. Replacement sensors are cheap and easily installed. (4) Provision is made for connection to a chart recorder or, if preferred, to a digital panel meter.
