Abstract

ABSTRACTThis lyric article manoeuvres through the potential pleasures of gay porn, both amateur and studio. The article's framework and formal inspiration is Barthes' A Lover's Discourse, and his idiosyncratic, particularly literary understanding of psychoanalysis. Its fragmentary form touches on topics such as edging, authenticity effect, and the pleasures of personal porn archives. At the same time, it diverges from Barthes' aversion to pornography – outlined in Camera Lucida – to claim a renewed appraisal of porn's pedagogies for our desire.
