Abstract

This paper reports on a door to door survey of 312 households to establish the prevalence of smoke alarm ownership in the two inner London boroughs. The method was a questionnaire which asked questions on ownership and maintenance of smoke alarms. Results showed that ownership in Camden&Islington is much lower than national figures found by the Home Office. This may have implications for the numbers of casualties from house fires in these boroughs.
