Abstract

Satellites network is different from the terrestrial one, the transmission delay between the nodes and the ground station is quite long. Furthermore, the nodes mobility is more intensive and the nodes are power-limited. Based on those characteristics, an new policy-based network management architecture was build for the satellites network. In this architecture a local policy decision poinst(LPDPs) are disposed between the traditional policy decision poinst(PDP) and policy enforcement points(PEPs). So the LPDPs can exchange the policy information with the PEPs by disposing the LPDPs on the satellite network management agents which have the management function. The simulation results show that this new architecture can reduce the response delay of the policy-based satellite network management.
