Abstract

A 1-bit coding metasurface composed of two Minkowski loops as coding elements with wideband and polarization-insensitive characteristics is presented in this paper. The 1-bit coding elements structure is composed of a dielectric layer, a Minkowski loop metallic layer and a metallic back ground layer, which conforms the same amplitude and 180°±37° phase difference. An annealing algorithm is employed to find the optimal sequence of coding elements for optimal RCS reduction. The simulation results show that the 1-bit coding metasurface enables a 10dB RCS reduction from 10.2GHz to 29.1GHz with polarization-insensitive property.
