Abstract

The objective of this research study is to upgrade and install a pump on a remote offshore station's oil transmission line. Currently, the pump is a constant velocity centrifugal device that does not provide local flow metering. The old pump motor will be replaced with a variable speed motor that regulates the pump speed based on a 4-20mA input signal to fix this problem. The orifice plate and DP cell mounting will be used to monitor flow .Across the pump ports, a motorized bypass valve will be installed. Control will be provided via a conventional two-term controller installed remotely in the central control room.
