Abstract
Abstract A phylogenetic analysis of relationships at the generic level is carried out for the tribe Cecidophyini Keifer which comprises 9 genera. The analysis is based on a total of twenty-one characters drawn from the examination of investigated specimens and original descriptions of the taxa. These characters are polarized by comparison with Phytoptus of the family Phytoptidae and Phyllocoptes, Eriophyes and Colemerus of the family Eriophyidae. One parsimonious tree was generated after successive character weighting. Two distinct clades were revealed: clade A (((((Achaetocoptes, Johnella), Cecidophyes, Coptophylla, Glyptacus), Chrecidus), Cecidophyopsis)) and clade B (Dechela, Neserella). The distributional pattern and mite-host plant relationships of the Cecidophyni are described and discussed.
