Abstract

Photoionization electronic branching ratios have been measured for the four outermost valence orbitals of formaldehyde using photoelectron spectroscopy and synchrotron radiation. The results provide some support for theoretical predictions of an ϵa 1 resonance in the partial cross sections. Additional peaks observed in the photoelectron band associated with the H 2CO +X state are discussed in relation to autoionizing Rydberg structure recorded in photoionization yield curves.
