Abstract

We describe a photodensitometric method for the study of the longitudinal and lateral development, as well as the energy determination, of high energy showers in an emulsion chamber. These showers are produced by the nuclear interaction of cosmic ray particles with the atmosphere and lead in the chamber. In this paper the apparatus is described and some preliminary results are given to demonstrate the technique.
