Abstract

After establishing a preliminary vertical dimension of occlusion with the maxillary and mandibular occlusion rims, the labial surface of the rims is corrected to harmonize with the contours of the cheeks and lips. The dentist shapes the occlusion rims as accurately as possible to determine the desired amount of lip support. The dentist or a technician will preliminarily arrange the anterior teeth as guided by the wax contour. The appearance and feel of the trial denture is much different than that of an occlusion rim of wax alone. The trial insertion proceduresmay take additional time if it is necessary to reset artificial anterior teeth. This article presents a technique for using a photo guide of artificial anterior teeth to verify the form and size of the artificial teeth.
