Abstract
After 15 years of activity in pore network modeling, the author recalls previously published individual research results and puts them in a broader context. The evolution from a merely academic drying model for fundamental investigations to recent studies of industrial relevance is tracked. The article also recalls the important role of sophisticated experiments with micromodels and real porous materials to validate the theoretical work. Altogether, strong emphasis is put on past and remaining challenges in pore network modeling; and insight is given in the decisions concerning development and use of the various model versions.
