Abstract

MARIAM CHAMBERLAIN served as a program officer at the Ford Foundation during the period of major funding of women's studies projects. She is currently visiting scholar at the Russell Sage Foundation and is also an adjunct member of the faculty at Hunter College. standing. Collectively they provide institutional resources for research on women that supplement the efforts of individual scholars and make possible the development of large scale and interdisciplinary research programs. The results of the research activities of the centers have not only been used as material for women's studies courses but they have also been brought to bear on the formation of public policy concerning women.
