Abstract

This paper deals with a PEF (Percentage Error Feedback) based control for single-phase multifunctional SECS (Solar Energy Conversion System). The SECS not only feeds the energy into the grid but also performs the features such as, harmonics mitigation, compensation for reactive power and correction of overall power factor to unity. Moreover, an adaptive DC link voltage structure is used to reduce switching losses. The reference DC link voltage is adjusted according to PCC (Point of Common Coupling) voltage in order to keep the DC link voltage just sufficient for proper control of SECS. A comparison of fixed DC link voltage and adaptive DC link voltage is also presented in this work. The proposed SECS is simulated in MATLAB based environment and the simulation results are verified experimentally. The THD (Total Harmonics Distortion) of the grid current is found well under IEEE-519 standard (below 5 %).
