Abstract

Concussion is a common disorder in children and adolescents that it will be impractical to refer every patients to a specialized concussion program. Pediatricians should be familiar with the diagnosis and treatment of uncomplicated traumatic brain injury, yet this not standardized. With nearly 700000 children evaluated in the ER in 2017 and nearly 10% of those admitted to Hospitals it is clear pediatricians are playing an important role in the rehabilitation of these children. Referrals to specialized centers sometimes take time and this increase frustration on the patients and their families. Thus, it is very important pediatricians are familiar with current trends and this article offers tips for the diagnosis and management of these patients at primary care provider's office.
