Abstract
A PC-based climatic control system was developed for agricultural buildings with up to eight compartments. The system hardware and software were used to control two compartments in a pig production building during the test. The controlled variables of the system were temperature and relative humidity. The actuators of the system were mechanical ventilation and electrical heating units. The results show that the PC-based system could control the multi-compartment climates closely and reliably. The system can be used as a research facility to evaluate control algorithms, and static and dynamic climate processes in livestock buildings and greenhouses.
