Abstract

This paper describes the development of the networked ‘pay-as-you-use’ laser printer system. This system allows the user to submit printing jobs remotely and by striping his/her matriculation card through a magnetic card reader obtain the printout of the files on the selected network laser printer. A small interface unit, the PALP unit, designed around a micro-controller provides the user with simple access to the system.
