Abstract

One-way delay (OWD) traces are important measurements for analyzing end-to-end performance in computer networks. The OWD measurements are not always accurate due to clock resets at end hosts. We propose an adaptive algorithm to detect clock resets based on pattern recognition. By clustering clock skews and OWD measurement data, this algorithm can identify two types of clock resets and detect multiple clock resets in an adaptive manner. Numbers of experiments show that this algorithm is more accurate than existing algorithms.
