Abstract

The Access Grid (AG) is an important component of grid, and it can provide immersive, interactive and collaborative access to grid applications. The AG users usually enter the collaboration space with the need of collaboratively manipulating the 3D geometric model of grid services' result in the real video environment. Due to Augmented Reality (AR) characteristics of combining virtual and real, real-time interaction and 3D registration, it is necessary to utilize AR to investigate a new pattern of video services, merging the real video scene of AG and 3D geometric model of grid services' results to allow users' manipulating the model in the real video scene. This paper proposes a pattern of Augmented Video Services (AVS) in AG. The pattern firstly illuminates the augmented video formation method based on combining real and virtual, secondly gives the transmission modes of augmented video information to provide shared augmented video stream for every AG user, and thirdly manages the augmented video session of AG by means of Session Announcement Protocol (SAP) and Session Description Protocol (SDP). At the end of this paper, a series of experiments are given to demonstrate the validity and usability of this AVS pattern.
