Abstract

This paper presents a parallel large eddy simulation with unstructured meshes. A new non-eddy-viscous SGS model is proposed and employed. The model does not need any eddy-viscous coefficient and can be used with structured or unstructured meshes. For parallel processing, we first arrange the sequence number of nodes, cells, and interfaces along the direction of main flow, divide the computation domain into a couple of subdomains with the same number of mesh cells, and then extend each subdomain to create an overlap with each of its neighbors. The developed model and algorithm are applied to simulate the turbulent flow around a car side mirror. Simulation results are compared to experimental data. The agreement is very close.
