A Paradox for the Existentialists Get access J. A. FRANQUIZ J. A. FRANQUIZ * Professor of Philosophy and head of the department at West Virginia Wesleyan College. A Puerto Rican by birth, Dr. Fránquiz received his higher education in the United States, holding degrees from Colgate University (B.A, 1930) and Boston University (S.T B., 1933 and Ph. D, 1940). Before coming to West Virginia Wesleyan College Dr. Fránquiz was a teacher in the department of philosophy of the University of Puerto Rico, 1936–46. He has participated in the Inter-American Congresses of Philosophy and has contributed numerous articles to various learned journals in America and abroad This article was first read as a paper before a meeting of the Southern Society for Philosophy of Religion in Atlanta, Georgia, during the first week of March, 1952.
