Abstract

A peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction scheme based on the technique of the fast Hadamard transform (FHT) with repeated companding filtering (RCF)is proposed to reduce the PAPR in coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CO-OFDM). The simulations show that the novel scheme could achieve significant reduction in PAPR and a good bit error rate (BER) performance. At the CCDF=10−4, the PAPR of proposed scheme after 2 iterations is optimized by 0.28 dB and 0.59 dB compared to selective mapping (SLM) and partial transmit sequence (PTS) respectively. At BER=10−4, the proposed scheme after 2 iterations is reduced by 1.83 dB and 1.24 dB compared to SLM and PTS.
