Abstract

Artistic and medical views of pain go on show in Berlin The exhibition Pain (Schmerz) explores the nature of pain and its representation. Paintings by Giambattista Tiepolo, Francis Bacon (pictured) and others are contrasted with installations, reportage and the patch-clamp recordings of neurophysiological research. But, says reviewer Stefan Klein, it fails to live up to its claim to build a bridge between science and art. Judge for yourself in Berlin — the exhibition closes on 5 August.
