Abstract
Facial burns requiring endotracheal intubation face the unique problem of tube fixation whilst at the same time dealing with varying levels of facial oedema and wound dressings. Traditionally endotracheal tubes have been secured with cotton tape tied around the tube and then the patient's neck. Frequently these tapes cut in to the patient's soft tissues and can cause ulceration at the angle of the mouth through pressure necrosis.
