Abstract

The size of public telecommunication networks and computer networks is becoming quite large, and various new control features and services are being offered so that a large amount of control is needed and enormous amounts of data must be handled. Thus there is a need to utilize the limited network resources efficiently and effectively. In this paper, we propose a distributed control method based on game theory, in which the performance of the whole network is levelled without regard to the quality of communication, and each element of the network has a basically independent function. It is shown by computer simulation that the packet loss rate caused by timeout can be decreased. © 1998 Scripta Technica. Electron Comm Jpn Pt 1, 81(8): 89–96, 1998
