Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper describes an effective methodology for accurate evaluation of liquid recovery during the gas cycling of condensate reservoirs. First, the fluid flow problem is solved by potential flow, which is shown to be applicable to compressible gas flows also. The mass transfer and phase behavior within the potential flow streamtubes can then be calculated using one dimensional reservoir simulators, which can efficiently control the numerical dispersion errors to any desired level. An example illustrates this method’s efficiency and accuracy advantages over conventional finite difference methods.
