Abstract

The heat transfer characteristics in the gas cooler of a CO 2 air conditioning system were investigated by the numerical method. In this paper, the simulated test is a 100 mm long finned tube with the hydraulic diameter of 6.4 mm. The conditions for this study were applied by the experimental data of a CO 2 air conditioning system with the inlet cooler temperature of $44.4^{\circ}\mathrm{C}$ and the ambient temperature of air cooled of $31.2^{\circ}\mathrm{C}$ . The result showed that the outlet temperature of CO 2 in tube decreases at the position of 100 mm. In addition, the temperature profile, velocity field, pressure drop, heat transfer rate were determined. Moreover, the results of numerical simulation are in good agreement with the experimental data. These results are very important in the calculation and design of heat exchangers using CO 2 .
