Abstract

A numerical model is utilized to simulate 2-dimensional day and night slopewind circulation regimes in a typical v-shaped valley. A large separated cell is developed over the lee slope during the day; a thin elongated separated cell is developed over the wind-ward slope during the night. The findings are consistent with analytical study and in good qualitative agreement with observations obtained from different parts of the world.
